World Day Against Child Labour: 12 June 2017

UNICEF: An estimated 150 million children worldwide are engaged in child
labour.

Children are the greatest gifts to humanity and Childhood is a significant and impressionable stage of human development as it holds the potential to the future development of our society as well as our country

As a desperate measure due to poor economic conditions, many Parents are forced to engage their children into jobs of various nature – many of which are even associated with job causing health hazards. Under extreme economic distress, children are forced to forego educational opportunities and take up jobs which are mostly exploitative as they are usually underpaid and engaged in hazardous conditions.Children unduly reduce their present and future wellbeing by performing work at a tender age at the cost of education.

Education is a crucial component of any valuable effort to eliminate child labour. Keeping this in mind Turnstone Global is using education to combat child labour in non-formal setting.

NGO to Support Child Rights in India

Turnstone Global plays an influential role in helping those underprivileged children through it’s non-formal school at Basanticolony in Kolkata and brick field schools in Bandel. Prior to setting of non formal school at Bashanti colony, the children were mostly employed as maids, shop assistants or work as temporary labours in factories and the Children at our brick field schools in Bandel were previously engaged in brick making or helping their families in brick making process but after the setting of the non formal school at slums and different brick fields areas we got an overwhelming response among the children in participating at these schools in regular basis.

On World day against child labour please donate or support a kid’seducation and give an opportunity to the Child to be brought up in an environment which is conducive to their intellectual, physical and social health, which indirectly will help them to grow up to be the responsible, accountable and productive members of our community.
