Every Day’s Heroes Among Us: Tithi Das

For Suman, Tumpa, Suraj and many other kids of the migrant labours of the brick fields at Bandel the world would have been cold, cruel, and a harsh place. But now for all of them their Tithi Madam is the beacon of hope who is not only a teacher OF ‘Umang – a non-formal school for the children of migrant brickfield labours ‘ jointly run by Turnstone Global and Athmik’ but also the coordinator, friend ,philosopher and guide.

Tithi has a beautiful differently abled child Shristi; suffering from cerebral palsy; made her realise to try and make a society where every child could live with dignity and get equal rights.

To achieve her dreams she solely devotes her precious time to create the urge of learning in those kids who will never get the opportunity of learning through formal education until Turnstone Global could able to make such types of informal schools for them and simultaneously she is pursuing her Masters in Social Work as well efficiently playing the role as a great mother, wife, daughter and a social worker.

Tithi has decided to be the source of help not only for her own child or the kids of ‘Umang’ but also for all the deprive kids in the society and give them compassion, kindness, and care they deserve.

As a person she is neither rich in terms of money nor famous. Her efforts on behalf of others rarely being notice by the society. Yet to the kids in brick field schools she has been considered as their HERO.
