During the research work on cyclone Aila which destroyed the simple living of the inhabitants of Sunderbans of West Bengal in 2009; Sheha was so touched  that she decided to  help the Aila affected victims who became the refugees and started  to live  around canal side road near Kolkata Nicco park since 2009. Hence with her mother’s support she started volunteering at Turnstone Global supported ‘Abhilasha a non-formal school which was made to teach these migrant children of Sunderban’.

Sneha aimed to empower those kids with education and also with necessary information and skills to prevent any form of child abuse. After completing her graduation 22 years old Sneha is now preparing for different government job exams but she still takes time out from her busy schedule to spend quality of time with these kids at Abhilasha as well with their families in the adjoining slum near Nicco Park in Kolkata.

For the slum people she is their own ‘Sneha Didi’ who  councils them on the importance of education and main stream schooling for their kids , teaches them, plays with them and encourage  them with small gifts.

To those who feel helpless and hopeless, she is their gentle guide who leads them to discover theirinner strengths, greatness, and their true potential. In a word she is their HERO.
