They have come out with the joy of living and not as a segmented self!!

We are different”…..

“We are not like you…..,

“Society hates us”……………

These were the reflection of some of the perspectives of transgender people with whom Turnstone Global has started a package of training session on personality development and life skills development. When 12 participants were met through training session almost all of them were found confused and bit frustrated of the society.  This mind set up was quiet natural as in many cases society denied to recognise them as human being and they have developed an apathy towards the society. So the greatest challenge of the training was to develop self-esteem of them at one hand which is the basis of personality development and life skills; on the other hand providing input for transforming their ideas towards a positive direction. Thus, the objective of the training was not only to inculcate knowledge and skills but to enhance their inner self in a realistic way to face the odds of life.

The package of the training sessions were started with self-awareness and introspection which is the first step of self-awareness and training of mind on self-awareness is the initiation of personality development.  Gradually the mentoring on empathy, effective thought process, communication skills, dealing with emotion and anger management skills were taught with handholding through six consecutive sessions .

The success of the training revealed when we could see a massive positive change in their point of view. Now many of them have started explore their role beyond the stereotyped i.e. ‘Bandhaiwali’- claiming money from parents while child is born. After the training many of them told they are now feeling more responsible for the society and they will certainly starts to live life as a responsible citizen.  Some of them told that “yes we could understand that we claim money not in exchange of any labour, thus it is not a right job”.  They also said “we must contribute our labour for society but at the same time society needs to give us the respect of a human being, respect of a productive individual’.
