Zero Hunger
“My husband has died in an accident in 2015 leaving two younger children aged six month and 4 years. I could not able to feed my children properly as I cannot even work for domestic help as my younger daughter is too small to stay alone at home. After lots of scientific and Technological advancement till today there are around 795 million people sleep hungry every day at night in the world. Under the age of five each year, 3.1 million children die due to malnutrition globally and in developing nation almost 66 million school going children going to school to attend classes while hungry
Malnutrition is the one of the major cause of growth retardation and impaired cognitive development in children. On the other hand pregnant women of marginalised class always face the challenge of consuming nutritious food which make them anaemic and bound to put their life in threat during giving birth or face the challenge by giving birth of mentally retarded children. with 194.6 million hungry citizens India tops the list as the most undernourished country . Despite a significant rise in the economy, the country is failing to eradicate hunger at it’s grassroots levels and now it becomes the home of 15 percent of the world’s hungry. But ironically India produces enough food to feed its countrymen but lack of governance in food distribution forces many of the unfortunate sleep hungry at the end of the day.
To fight against hunger Turnstone Global take numerous significant steps to distribute dry ration kits under the project ‘Eklabya’ among 400 challenged underprivileged people every month since 2001 in the district of Kolkata , Hoogly, Howrah, North& South 24 Parganas, Midnapore in West Bengal
Under the project ‘No Child Hungry’ Turnstone Global has started supporting 900 children among the age group of 0-14 yrs from marginalised class by providing protein rich ration kit every month since 2016
During Lockdown due to peak of Covid 19 spread across the state of West Bengal under project ‘Covid –Anjali’ Turnstone Global chose to feed continuously for 8 months by distributing dry ration kit among 5000 underprivileged elderly who were supposed to be most vulnerable to get infected with Covid 19.
Turnstone Global also took a strong participation in the project ‘Feed India’ by Zomato -food delivery chain since ….. to feed cooked food to 2000 daily wage earner every day in the district of North 24 Parganas in West Bengal for two months July and august of 2021.
